When You Are Stuck on the Water

I have been there more than once, and it is not a good feeling; I have had to paddle back to the dock, get towed back to the dock, or just drive back to the dock - in one instance, at an excruciatingly slow speed. The motor ran great, but all it takes on a jet drive outboard is for one small screw to go missing, and 3 mph is about as fast as you are going to go.

In fact, breaking down once to often is one of the main things that caused me to bite the bullet on buying a new boat. Every boat can suffer a breakdown, though - or lose a propeller. In such instances it is sometimes hard to tell who to call, or if there is anyone to call.
